Development outcomes

The main objective of the project is to help households or agricultural cooperatives converting agricultural residues into biochar to enhance soil health and crop production, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to the sustainable development and SDGs, including:

SDG 1 – No poverty

To improve their livelihoods and income, contributing to poverty reduction.

SDG 2 – Zero hunger

To improve soil fertility and increase crop yields resulting from biochar application contribute to food security and sustainable agriculture.

SDG 3 – Good health and well-being

By promoting the use of biochar and providing alternative solutions to open field burning of agricultural waste, we help reduce PM2.5 emissions and other air pollutants.

SDG 5 – Gender equality

To promote gender equality by actively engaging and empowering female farmers, ensuring they have equal access to resources, training, and decision-making processes.

SDG 8 – Decent work and economic growth

To generate local employment opportunities in biochar production, distribution, and management, fostering economic growth and decent work opportunities in the community.

SDG 13 – Climate Action

To help mitigate climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing climate resilience in agriculture.

SDG 15 – Life on land

Reducing waste and pressure on forests, improving soil health, and supporting ecosystem preservation and restoration.
